About the club
Established in 2010, Wānaka FC has grown from a community club focused on social football, to one of the largest clubs in Otago with over 500 junior members, three senior teams, and a year-round academy program.
The club’s goal is to train locally and compete nationally. Our men’s team do just that, competing in the Southern League, which is the top-tier of football in NZ. Wānaka FC was promoted to this league at the start of the 2025 season and competes against teams from Christchurch, Dunedin and Nelson.
About Wānaka
Wānaka is a ski and summer resort town on NZ’s South Island. With a population of just 13,000 people, it is known for its beautiful scenery, from the lake, to the snowy mountains, to the famous Wānaka tree.
What the club is looking for
Wānaka FC is looking for football players to player in its men’s team during the 2026 season. You will be based in Wānaka from January to September 2026.
What the club offers players
The club offers four training sessions a week, weekly video analysis, and two strength training sessions weekly. In addition to focusing on the team’s performance in the Southern League, there is an emphasis on football education and helping players springboard to their next playing opportunity.

The club will assist to find appropriate work and accommodation. If you have experience coaching football, there may be a part-time role within the club.
