Tournament Rules

Format
  • U10 and U11 are 7-a-side.
  • U12 are 9-a-side.
  • Size 4 ball for all ages.
Match length
  • Games are 30 minutes: two 15-minute halves with a 5-minute half-time break.
  • All games start and end on the central hooter.
Retreating line - 7-a-side only
  • The 7-a-side fields have a retreating line, which also marks the offside line.
  • The retreating line applies when there is a goal kick, the goalkeeper has the ball in their hands or there is a free kick rewarded inside the retreating line. All opposing players must remain outside the retreating line until the ball is touched by another attacking player after the goalkeeper kicks it to them.
  • When a goalkeeper catches the ball in open play, if they decide to play the ball before players get behind the retreating line, players do not have to retreat behind the retreating line. The goalkeeper cannot punt the ball out of their hands.
Offside - 9-a-side
  • 9-a-side teams do not have a retreating line. Normal offside rules apply. The goalkeeper cannot punt the ball out of their hands.
After each game
  • The referee will confirm the final score with both coaches, and will ask each coach for a rating of the opposing goalkeeper and for a most valuable player.
